Fred the Photographer (draft 2)

Today is going to be a fabulous day. As I was walking out the door on my way to work this morning, my long term boyfriend yelled out from behind me, “Fred, when you get home today we need to talk about moving in together.” I have been waiting for him to say that for weeks. I truly feel committed to him even though my publicist said that the press related to my announcing being gay would distract people from my work. I am an up and coming photographer in LA. For the time being I am working with many different magazines and newspapers. My dream is to be a top fashion photographer, but right now I am doing a spread on every aspect of LA for my portfolio that I will be sending to the top fashion magazines.

The reason I say on every aspect of LA is that the magazines want a variety of shots. They want their photographers to be creative and be able to shoot more then just models. My theme is The Streets of LA. I toke pictures of local girls that I thought have model potential. I didn’t have to pay them because I am giving them the pictures I took so they will have them for their own portfolio and they are also getting to be seen by these top fashion agents. I shot the models on a white background so that I can then put their photos over the pictures I take actually on the streets.

Yesterday, I found the perfect place to take my first shots of the LA streets. It’s a back ally behind a row of stores and it’s covered in graffiti. I think that putting these perfect pictures of models mixed in with the shots I take of this drab ally will make an awesome contrast. It will defiantly show the editors my true sparkle and glam. The colors on these walls are so vibrant and the fact that some of the paint is faded off is a bonus. The faded paint will help to show that I didn’t just put this here for the shoot.

The first spot I saw that I really wanted to shoot was this place on the wall where someone had painted over a bubble letter the word “fatty.” I found this to be a totally hilarious shoot to put behind such a thin model. I would have to make it somewhat hidden to so that you wouldn’t get the joke until you really examine the photo.

Another great shot I found was an up-close of the bottom of a bubble letter. It formed a spiral and would look great blown up behind a walking shot of one of the models. This will create the illusion of her walking out of it. I know I’m going to get the job after they see these shots. I now am debating taking any other shots because I have hit the jackpot of local creativity.

These old concrete stairs are would make a wonderful background for this one shot I took of Jessica in this elegant golden gown. It was almost like a Miss America pose of her walking down stairs. Oh, and I can put in bold across the bottom, “dress to impress everyday.” That will be perfect. It will show them that I can do fashion ads too.

Alright, I got the shot. I think I should go home and play around with what I have but, I think I have all I need to score the job with Vogue. If I manage to pull that off, I might even get to fulfill my dream of shooting Tyra Banks. Her photos are what inspired me as a little boy to want to be a top fashion photographer. The way her poses pop off the page would be inspiring to anyone who sees them. I know that if these shots turn out as amazing as I hope and I get the job, I know I’ll get the chance to shoot some of the most talented models, even if their not Tyra. Look out Vogue, Fredwardo’s going to be your top photographer.

The Wedding (Draft 2)

Okay, here we go. Take deep breathes Meghan, you can do this. Just keep breathing. It’s about to begin. You love him and now you’re going to marry him. Really, are you sure you can do this? It’s a huge step. Wait what; of course I can do this. I love him. My whole family is here and I’m ready.

Alright, the music has begun, time for Winkie to walk down the isle. That flower girl dress looks so cute on her. Oh my gosh, where is my bouquet?! “Meghan, here, you don’t want to forget this.” “Thanks Kitty, I totally forgot you had them.” These flowers are perfect. They go with everything so well. Mom did such a good job picking them out. There go the bride’s maids, I’m up next! Calm down, smile, and don’t trip. Pretend it’s just like last night at the rehearsal. “Okay Meghan, breathe and go.”

Step…Step…and Step. I got this. This is nothing just keep smiling and look ahead. Awe, there is Mom and Memaw. Memaw looks spankin’! Look at all my girls, they are all so gorgeous. Don’t cry, keep it together, you don’t want black lines running down your cheeks. I don’t think I have ever felt this much love in just one place. My family and Ed’s family together, this is wonderful. I can’t wait to start my life with Bird, he’s everything I ever wanted.

Five more steps and I’ll be there. One, two, three. Slow down you’re walking too fast. Four, five. The music has stopped and Father Kaufman has begun. I think I better stop talking to myself now. Focus and say the right things.

“You may kiss the bride.” It’s over, that was so easy. Why was I so worked up again? It’s time to party! I can’t wait to dance with Dad. It’s going to be a major highlight of my wedding. Wait, I am married! I’m Misses Meghan Amerson! Oh, yeah, it is time to hit the dance floor.

I can’t wait to get across the street these heals are killing me. I hear the music pumpin’. Can’t we walk a little faster? Oh, thanks. It’s like they can hear my thoughts. I’m not saying this out loud, am I? Good no one laughed; I’m still talking to myself. Yes we’re here. I think I’m going to go against my plan. I’ll throw the bouquet first. “Can all the single ladies circle around I’m going to throw the bouquet now.” Wow that was quick. I hope one of the bride’s maids catches it. That would be perfect. It would be hilarious if Winkie or Kitty caught it. They are so young and funny. I love them so much. Kitty looks closer to twenty then twelve though. Where has little Kat gone? Oh, yeah, I need to throw these. Three, two, one, there they go. Oh yes, Kitty caught them. This truly is the perfect wedding. “Kat, come give me a hug!”

Letter to Obama (Draft 2)

Dear President Obama,
Congratulations on winning the election. That is a great accomplishment. Now that you are our commander and chief, I was hoping that you would work on getting some issues taken care of. My hope is that you will work on the economy. As a high school student, I am now preparing to enter the working world. I have strong hopes that you will be able to help the country get on the right track for getting out of debt, that you will help create more jobs for the people who really need them, and perhaps most importantly, help people like me to have hope for a stable economy when I graduate.
Thank you for your time,
Kate Kammauff

What about peace? (draft 2)

Peace is devoted,
peace is gentle.
Peace is compassionate,
and peace is concord.

Peace listens to all,
never shutting its ears.
It resolves all issues,
mends all problems.

Peace is by no means silent,
its lips never sealed.
It whispers in hushed tones,
until someone listens.

Peace is influence,
the solution to revolution.
Expanding in those who follow.

Be peace,
embody it, and dwell in it.
Love it, and share it.
That's true peace.

Peace (1st Draft)

What about peace?
Is it war?
Is it crime?
Is it hate?

No
Peace is loving,
peace is kind.
Peace is caring, and
peace is never blind.

Peace sees everything,
never turning its back.
It can resolve any issue,
and fix any problem.

Peace is the power,
the solution to change.
Growing in all who spread it.

Be peace,
embody it and live it.
Love it and share it.

That's peace,
that's what it's about.

Bob's Day at Camp (Final Draft)

“Hi, my name is Bob,” the little boy said as he walked into his first day of Little Minds Day Camp. It was a bright and sunny morning, perfect for the first day of camp. His new camp counselor, Ms. May, asked all the kids to step up one at a time and tell every one their name and age. Each child did as she said, standing up one at a time they would say, “Hello, my name is … and I am five years old,” and as they said their age they would hold up a little hand with five fingers raised proudly on it. While they were going around the circle of camper introductions, Bob was thinking about how excited he was to be at camp. He had never been to a camp before and he was glad to have such a nice counselor. After all the campers introduced themselves, Ms. May told them that it was time for the first activity of the day, Art.

All the campers cheered as they skipped off to the art building. As they walked up the, what were to them, huge stairs they entered the coolest building on the whole campus of Little Minds Day Camp. The art building was brightly painted and had materials for any project you could imagine. The most striking feature of the art room was it’s ceiling, which was painted to look like a Starry Night. Bob had seen this painting many times before and it was his very favorite. What he liked most about this version was the way the lights on the ceiling were placed in the center of the stars, which gave them a more realistic illumination. The campers were instructed to pick a table to sit at with three other kids. The tables were all shaped like paint pallets and had paint brush legs. Bob picked a table with two other boys and a girl; their names were Ben, Jacob, and Mia. They were all very welcoming to him and were excited that he wanted to sit with them. Bob loved art and he especially liked to do art projects. He just couldn’t wait to get stared with the project of the day.

Today the campers were going to make macaroni necklaces. This was a favorite among all the campers including Bob. They were all given a bole full of macaroni, some paint and string. Each camper then proceeded to take a piece of smooth macaroni and paint in their favorite color. Bob made a wonderful necklace of blue and red macaroni that he decided was to be for his big sister Katie. When the little jewelers finished their fine pieces of jewelry, they moved on to their next activity.

It was now time for fun and games out side. Bob couldn’t wait to run and play with all of his new camp buddies, especially Mia. He had a little bit of a crush on Mia. She had big sparkling blue eyes and long curly brown hair. She was by far the prettiest girl he had ever seen and she was his favorite playmate at camp. The activity for today was an obstacle course. It consisted of a tunnel, a ball pit, a maze, and then finally a small rock wall. Ms. May told them the instructions, “Okay kids let’s split into two groups of six and then we will have a race through the obstacle course. Which ever team gets to the finish line first, WINS!”

Bob was so excited to conquer the obstacle course with his teammates. A boy on his team named Tommy, whispered to him, “Hey Bob, I hope we win. Do you think the team that wins will get a prize?” Bob then whispered back, “I don’t know if the winning team will get a prize, but if they do I hope it’s our team!” Just as they finished whispering to each other, Ms. May yelled, “Ready, set, go!” The race began and they were off. They darted through the tunnel, swam through the ball pit, weaved their way through the maze, leaped over the rock wall, and were at the end in no time. It was a tie! Both teams won and everyone was ecstatic. They all cheered and jumped around like a bunch of chimpanzees. Bob thought it was awesome that none of his new friends had to lose and that they all got to be winners.

The first day of camp was coming to an end and every one had had a great morning. All the campers went to the art building to pick up their art and then went to pick-up/drop-off area to wait for their parents. Bob thought about all the fun he had that day and the new friends he had made. He couldn’t wait to tell his mom and sister about all the exciting activities at camp. He also wanted to tell his mom about his special new friend Mia and how much fun she was to play with. The most important thing Bob was thinking about as he waited for his mom to pick him up was that he couldn’t wait to get home to eat his lunch that was waiting for him. He thought, “Man I love hot dog day!” as his stomach rumbled with hunger right as his mom pulled up to take him home from his first day at Little Minds Day Camp.
